What is the Point of This Site?

To learn about Egyptomania! From pyramidology and alien conspiracies, to art and archeology, this site aims to educate and excite anyone interested in learning more about Ancient Egypt. Our Egyptomania website share these topics in a format accessible to all ages and levels of historical knowledge.

To better understand it’s impact, this collaberative project investigates the different facets of Egyptomania through six different clusters.

Examining Egypt explores the documentation, translation, and transporting of Egyptians artifacts by noteable Europeans, including Napoleon Bonaparte, John Gardner Wilkinson, Giovanni Belzoni, and Jean-Francois Champollion

Remembering Egypt traces the various perceptions of Ancient Egyptian society and culture through the lens of philosophy, architecture, religion, and literature. Viewpoints from various Jewish, Roman, Greek, and Hermetic over a period of two thousand years are analyzed to understand how they have shaped Egyptomania.

Presenting Egypt looks into how Egypt has been displayed and depicted through art collections and archeological exhibits.

Using Egypt examines how Ancient Egypt has been used as a foundational aspect of Freemasonry, Mormonism, Afrocentrism, and contemporary Egyptian nationalism.

Popularizing Egypt analyzes the ways that Ancient Egyptian history has been remembered through contemporary Western art, literature, and tourism.

Weird Egypt explores all the ways Egypt has been considered outside the framework of traditional history, including in new age religions, conspiracies, movies, and the occult.
