Digital Wanderings

No April Fool’s here – there are 2 Around the D entries for today.

We’re having great fun finding topics and sharing our digital collections and now we’d like to share some fun examples from other colleges. This time we’re featuring projects at Presbyterian College and East Carolina University.

First, Presbyterian College. They have recently added a Morrison Family Album. The Morrison’s have strong ties to Davidson College since Robert Hall Morrison was our first president.  While you’re visiting their site, check out the Bee Mail Letters (WWII correspondence) and Blue Notes (highlighting archives’ staff fun finds).

Second, East Carolina University. Their Special Collections department has launched a terrific new Digital Collections Gateway. Take a tour and explore original documents relating to agriculture, architecture, politics, African-American history, health and medicine, military history, naval history, patent medicine and much more. There aren’t many Davidson connections but there is a postcard sent by a Davidson student in 1916.

And if you are a serious archives fan (geek?) check out their online tutorials.

We’ll feature other sites from time to time.  Do you have a favorite digital site? Share the url and an fun fact you’ve learned.
