Dear Brother

I have taken this opertunity to wright to you to let you know that we are not all well. Mother has been very poreley with a beading on her hip which has give her a greate deal of pain but I hope that the worst is over with. it was open this morning and run a grate deal. it is hard round almost as a large as a sauser. I went to town after the Dockter this morning but he has not got here yet. The rest of us are well but we have almos all of [us — crossed out] had chills but have got clear of them. Eliza is well there is not very mutch sickness in the cuntry at this time. I received your leter dated the 20 of July. Eliza receive one las week. I am still going to school I expect to go to college in October. There is a good many of our neighbors gone to the mountains this season. [illegible] ther has been murder commited in Charlotte aboute two weeks a go James Willson son of Larvis Willson shot Pat TalorĀ  Jim has made his escape and has not been heard of. Tal or is not dead yet the Dc says that he has more faverable simetons [symptoms] than he has sences he was shot Mack and Tom wen out con huntin and T[illegible] and I went along to cut the tree it had three in it Sep 1st Mack and I caugh as larg a coon this morning as I ever saw he whiped old Dun and dock easy

September the 2 — I did not have an opertunity of sending you this leter last week Mother is a little beter this morning the rest of us are well Bill I wold like very much to see you I dreamed of seeing you last night mothers crop is very light and the hogs is eating it up I am a fraid that she will not make enough to do her she will be very saving if she dose. We hav had some very hot wether this last week this has been the hotest sumer that I ever felt I have missed a crop of watermelons this year almost entireley. Bill I wold like to know when you are coming home. pleas wright to me as soon as you can Mother and the rest of them sends their love to you give my love to harrison and tell him to wright to me
