The Monroe Patterson Bell family home was located about 1 ½ miles from the end of the present Bethel Church Road to the left and ½ mile back from the road. The family swam in the Catawba River and had a wooden boat. The house was a two story frame house with 3 bedrooms upstairs and one down. It was heated with fireplaces or no heat. Monroe Bell farmed, mostly cotton until the depression. In 1952 the family moved to Davidson to a home on Concord Road.
