conclusion, Freshmen, you will find that Davidson College does give you
the opportunity for the education of the complete man, and perhaps not in
the sense that our Presbyterian founders would have most desired. Whether
you're taking a beautiful woman to a formal dance or a not-so-beautiful one

the movies, or whether you're just sitting around Hattie's having a beer with
. the boys, you will find that Davidson allows you both the leisure time and the
/entertainment advantages to make your college life a socially enriching experi-
l ence.
By wisely combining this experience with the academic one, by allowing
each its due place, you will be able to leave Davidson as a far more mature
human being than when you entered and your four years will be an experience
which will always have its mark with you.
The purpose of the Social Council is to plan ma~or campus-wide social
