{"id":2284,"date":"2022-07-13T15:59:24","date_gmt":"2022-07-13T15:59:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/deliberativecitizenship.org\/?p=2284"},"modified":"2023-07-25T17:15:45","modified_gmt":"2023-07-25T17:15:45","slug":"dci-offers-deliberation-facilitator-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deliberativecitizenship.org\/blogposts\/dci-offers-deliberation-facilitator-training\/","title":{"rendered":"DCI Offers Deliberation Facilitator Training!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Want to learn how to have productive, meaningful conversations about difficult topics and help others to do the same?\u00a0The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deliberativecitizenship.org\/\">Deliberative Citizenship Initiative<\/a> is\u00a0excited to host a two-part\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eventbrite.com\/e\/deliberation-facilitator-training-tickets-359475489867\">Deliberation Facilitator Training<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to help participants learn specific deliberation and facilitation skills. It is open to all Davidson students, faculty, staff, and members of the wider community.<\/p>\n<p>The training will take place at Davidson College on\u00a0<strong>Sept. 11<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Sept. 17<\/strong><strong><sup>t<\/sup><\/strong><strong><sup>h<\/sup><\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>from<strong>\u00a01:30 to 5:30 pm<\/strong>, and both sessions are required for completion of the program.\u00a0Upon completion of the program, participants will be certified DCI Facilitators and eligible to facilitate DCI deliberations (and be paid for doing so).<\/p>\n<p>This hands-on, interactive workshop will train participants in techniques that will improve their ability to\u00a0<strong><em>facilitate difficult discussions<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0about political and social issues among people who may have very different backgrounds, values, and opinions. Although such facilitation can be challenging, it is increasingly needed in a world that is facing a host of immense challenges that require people to come together to solve issues collaboratively. Well-trained facilitators can help us honestly, respectively, and productively engage with these challenges and seek out innovative solutions.<\/p>\n<p>This 8-hour training, spread across 2 days, will equip participants with skills and knowledge to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate difficult discussions<\/li>\n<li>Organize and host deliberations<\/li>\n<li>Encourage deliberative dispositions and humane instincts<\/li>\n<li>Build community through productive discourse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This free training opportunity will take place in-person at Davidson College, but a limited number of off-site individuals may participate virtually. Given the limited space, please only sign up if you are able to attend both sessions.
